OpenAI is bleeding money and none of the other big tech corporations investing into AI are seeing any returns either. The only people making money off of this are the hardware providers like Nvidia. Generative AI is just not very useful for anything that requires any minimum standard of quality, the only thing it’s good for is generating unimaginable amounts of useless slop.
GenAI is a big tech hailmary like the blockchain and the metaverse before it. Google, Microsoft and Meta desperately need there to be another growth market, they need the line to go up but all the current business models have been exhausted. I didn’t watch the debate but I’ve heard them both argue about the topic in different contexts. Destiny is good at debating and he can “hold his own” in any debate, regardless of how wrong he is on a subject, by litigating technicalities, deviating and distracting from the core issue at hand. I’m sure his arguments sound great if you know absolutely nothing about the subject matter.
I don’t have stats for this but I’d assume trains and buses are probably the safest method for your kids to go to school. Violent crime in a crowded space where you can’t immediately get away is excessively rare. Getting injured or killed in a traffic accident is way, way, way more likely to happen.
I don’t think you or I for that matter can appreciate the difference in education on the subject between Finkelstein and Destiny. Finkelstein didn’t just read every book on the subject multiple times, he wrote a whole number of them. He is one of the premier scholars on the subject in the entire world. Does that mean he is infallible and can’t be questioned by someone? No, but there is a certain audacity in believing that you are in any position to debate this man after you educated yourself by reading wikipedia articles for a few days in advance, wikipedia articles which are probably in no small part based on Finkelstein’s own work.

I think what LLMs and fascists have in common is that they fundamentally do not care about truth or reality. QAnon was so appealing to a lot of people because it had answers for everything. Insane answers, but answers nonetheless. LLMs also have an answer for everything, and more than that, if you ask it enough times with just the right phrasing, it will give you exactly the answer you want. Because again, ChatGPT doesn’t know or care about what is actually true, it is a probabilistic algorithm, a glorified autocomplete.
Fascists do not care if 2 LLM answers to the same question directly contradict each other, just as they didn’t care that Hillary Clinton never got arrested even though Q predicted that to happen on like 6 different occasions. They will simply pick the Grok answers they like and use them as proof. They don’t care that their AI-generated mugshot of that one judge crying wasn’t “real”. They seek to collectively pretend reality into submission. If we all agree that something happened, it might as well have. And generative AI is perfect for that.
ChatGPT (or OpenAI) is not responsible for people seeking to reinforce their own beliefs, but it makes it easier than ever by effectively being programmed to validate the user’s beliefs in an authoritative voice. You can’t just create the DelusionReinforcer5000 and then go “it’s not my fault people use it.”
They have shown restraint, yes. As zionists like to say, “Israel could’ve killed everyone in Gaza already if they wanted to”. They haven’t done that because they try to maintain some sense of plausible deniability towards Western audiences. They can kill Palestinian journalists because nobody in the West has ever heard of them and they have scary, Arabic names. Norm Finkelstein has said that Israel always ramps up the brutality when Western media is distracted by some other story. Israel cares a great deal about what the media says, otherwise they wouldn’t invite influencers on propaganda trips and wouldn’t put so much pressure on media outlets to fire everyone who even slightly criticizes them.
