General strikes and boycotts. Find ways to be less dependent on corporations so they don’t receive as much of your money. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s much you can lawfully do as an individual to have a profound effect on the accountability of wealthy and connected people who can financially influence law enforcers.

Perhaps quietly prepare yourself through acquisition of skills and various implements for a time when equitable rule of law is so asymmetrical that it makes more sense to break the law in order to survive.

Or just be really really sneaky and hard to catch.

In what activities do you personally engage to cultivate your intellect?

Hard to grasp how incredibly broken those people are. Like, has no one ever told them it actually feels good to help other people? It’s been scientifically supported as one of the most effective joy-inducing activities known, far beyond acquiring wealth or shopping. Ironically, it’s probably the best way to demonstrate a sense of power (which these hollow souls seem to pursuing, through vitriol)…the power to influence someone else’s existence in a beneficial way.

A bit sensationalist, yes. I didn’t read it, but I hope it made some link between the hormone drops associated with shocking imagery and sounds and the cognitive high one receives in response to the ensuing neurosynaptic flood.

They’re basically addicts with the drugs being manufactured and distributed in-house; all they need is the evermore violent and shocking A/V catalyst to inject the proverbial needle.

I was of the understanding reading books had fallen out of favor and reality shows, endless scrolling, 24/7 news, and podcasts were the new and supposedly best way to expose oneself to entertainment disguised as information.

What’s your preferred method of acquiring knowledge and exercising your intelligence to hit the proverbial ‘ensmartment button’?

Sounds like you better get busy on building that ensmartering button then, because exposure to knowledge through books and other educational media is the only way I know of to become smarter. I suppose healthy living facilitates the process greatly, as well.

Well, kinda…due to inheritance, it’d kinda be like the Lernaean Hydra.

What if the court tries doing things the right and lawful way, fails, and then says “fuck it, rule of law is obviously dead, so here’s a hail mary” and appeals to citizens at large to enforce it, promising immunity to those who act?

Steal what people have to lose and they’ll start acting like they’ve nothing left to lose…

The sheer unfairness of it stings and festers, I agree and feel the same as you. There’s some solace in knowing there was never really anything I could have done differently, except perhaps lived a little more decadently, although I’m not sure that would have made me much happier at the time and probably would have made me even more poorly prepared, mentally, for the austerity to come.

My parents were strategic geniuses for having this book in the house when I was a kid. I believe it helped my slow lifetime acceptance of the ‘life is no fair’ fact.
