  • I don’t. This entire conversation has been in such bad faith. You really can’t pretend that this is about “US defaultism” now when you have been so obtuse about it all along.

I think you know exactly what you’re doing. Arguing that transgender people aren’t oppressed, while pretending that the rising epicenter of their oppression isn’t relevant to the conversation.

The year is 1938. Jews aren’t oppressed.

I’m not talking about Nazi Germany, that’s clown country.

Okay, I concede that the situation in Germany is concerning.

    That’s how you fucking sound.

Edit - and for the record, there’s plenty of countries where being transgender has always been a death sentence. So whatever you think about “US defaultism”, you sure defaulted to a stupid position.

  • A lot of people didn’t see a problem with segregating water fountains by race, either.

also i’m not sure if slavery and lynching are the same as being denied a bathroom.

Seems to be only in the US and biased articles. I can’t anything about other countries.

Where exactly did you think we were talking about? What kind of bad faith shit is this?

And biased articles? My god. Biased against what? Transphobia? What about the edu articles? The research papers? Do you need assistance operating the search engine?

I’m sorry, could you explain the irony? Do you think oppressed minorities can’t also be oppressors? That they can’t be misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, or just good-old-fashioned racists themselves?

tho, I am curious, why not just use unisex bathrooms? Wouldn’t that be a solution everyone can get behind

Unisex bathrooms are a solution that almost everyone transgender or ally gets behind. But they don’t currently exist in most places that need more than two toilets in the building. I should clarify, because apparently I need to - we’re talking about the United States.

And, by the way, “maybe they should just have a separate place to go to the bathroom”?

Sound familiar? Does it sound like segregation? Because it is. They should be able to use the bathroom for their gender without being fucking harassed, or worrying about being harassed. End of story.

  • Base what on? The countless stories of transgender (and cis misgendered) people being harassed in and around bathrooms?

The understanding based on real world experience that many transgender people pass as their gender, and therefore are clearly out of place in bathrooms meant for the gender that was assigned to them at birth?

The executive orders attempting to erase the recognition of transgender people entirely and require them to have the same gender listed on their passport as they did on their birth certificate? The State Department not returning or renewing passports for transgender people?

also i’m not sure if slavery and lynching are the same as being denied a bathroom.

How many times does this need to be said? How many times do majorities need to fucking hear this about minorities?

We’re not playing the “who has it worse” game because everyone loses.

  • Even this attitude of educating others, like every trans person is suddenly an expert in psychology or something.

The education isn’t a teacher to a student. It’s a person revealing their life experience to others. Maybe they don’t want to constantly talk about their life experience with people who might not understand.

The way you frame it furthers the exclusivity of the group, which is odd to me because I would think trans people would want more people in their communities.

Why would you think that should be a universal thing, for communities to want to constantly expand and include people that may not share the same values as the community?

Would you expect every religious person to answer every concern or question that you have about their religion? Would you walk into a church, and expect the average parishioner to hear your concerns about the afterlife, and questions about inconsistencies in the bible?

If you don’t know how to sew, and will never sew a garment in your life, would you walk into a sewing club and expect them to welcome you in?

Or would you understand that maybe they’re in their own place, and don’t want to talk to you?

    I repeat:

sometimes people want to have a space to exist without constantly justifying that existence to others.

  • Probably not 1:1 but the point is that its risky when medicine moves too quickly

Healthcare has been moving in this direction since at least… oh, that’s right, the Third Reich. It’s not moving too fast right now, it’s been moving too slow for the last century.

Mainly what concerns me right now is that people who have concerns or questions about the medicine or science are routinely harassed and/or banned from trans communities.

    1. Which trans communities? There are some that are open to educating others. There are some that are not. It is absolutely not a trans person or community’s responsibility to educate you, and sometimes people want to have a space to exist without constantly justifying that existence to others. Even good faith questions can be exhausting when it’s your life that is being questioned.

    2. Exactly what questions do you consider to be valid, good faith questions, presented to people or communities that are open to this discussion, and yet result in harassment?

  • So basically your argument is, if you don’t like the gameplay loop, they force you to pay?

Lol no, I’m saying if you do like the gameplay loop, you will eventually get trapped in it. The more you play, the more time-gated walls you hit in the daily grind, and the more time-gated ceilings you hit in the weekly/monthly grinds, all while the game is designed to hook right into your dopamine reward system and never let go. Want to play more? Better cough up some money! Finished your dailies? But today’s the last day, time is running out on the banner! Cough up some money!

Oh, lol, you don’t see it? The fact that there is an entire model type called “short female” with eight (edit: ten!) characters… but no short males? “Modestly dressed” lmao they’re like 60% exposed skin, short shorts and skirts.

And oh, right, there are some “modestly” dressed children that look like children, and act like children… but coincidentally several of those short female models who aren’t modestly dressed fall under that “I look exactly like the children but I’m not! I’m actually an adult! Or even an immortal” lolicon trope.

    It’s. Fucking. Gross.

  • The only thing spending money is good for is specific characters and weapons, none of which are required, and you can absolutely save up from playing for free and get almost any of those characters/weapons without spending a dime.

This is dramatically underselling the gacha loop. There is absolutely a ceiling for F2P content, where grinding to progress becomes unbelievably time consuming.

It’s deep in the game, I’ll grant that, but that’s the point - like every mobile game, you’re meant to get completely hooked on the progression loop with fast early rewards, then each loop drags longer and longer and longer until you either have to abandon the game entirely or start P2W.

It’s not that hard to get characters and items, but the FOMO system is ridiculous. Just invested all the grinded resources you had to mercy pull a character you’ve had your eyes on? Guess what, the next patch just launched an even better character, or the next banner brought back a 5* that is so meta for your team comp that getting that character will exponentially increase your damage output.

Now you have a limited amount of time to grind all that shit again, or let the banner pass and wait for that massive improvement to your team comp to be available some months/years into the undefined future.

And actually upgrading those items and characters to be useful in late game content?

Time to fork over $$, or at least dozens of hours grinding out dungeons that you can only play on certain days and with a limited number of the same daily grind resources that are required for every different type of progression from level ups to ascensions to gold to skill upgrades… the same materials that you can also buy. And each time you progress to the next “level”, the cost (and time needed to pay it) increases exponentially.

Basically, the “good” parts of Genshin are specifically (and very effectively) designed to increasingly consume your time or your money. There is nothing “good” about it because it’s all just a massive investment in stealing away your life or your life savings.

They didn’t make all that awesome content for you to have fun - they made it so that you don’t notice when your brain starts telling you “I’ve put hundreds of hours into this game, $5 is totally worth all that time… just $20 and maybe I’ll get that character or skip the next 30 hours of grinding… if I spend $100 I’ll get all the stuff I want at a discount, and then I won’t have to grind for awhile… except I still need to keep progressing and now that I’ve skipped ahead by investing money, the gacha loop is even more punishing now, but I’m locked in an ever spiralling sunk cost fallacy now”

And yeah, don’t even get me started on the sexualization. What the actual fuck.

  • Orangutans have entered the chat. Their only natural weapons are the long guns they’re packing. Lean machine all folded up in a big skin sack. Plenty of humans could bench an adult orangutan, zero humans are winning that fight.

That being said they’re basically just a half step down the neurology ladder and 2 steps up the jungle ladder, so it makes sense that they would outclass us.
