70% seems super low, I’d say 100%. Given enough time, if the online component is not released or emulated, that portion of the game that requires it WILL die. It is inevitable.

killer queen black still pisses me off. It was still 100% playable without the servers (if you had people to play with), yet they killed all online functions entirely and delisted the game so you can’t even buy it as a couch play game anymore.

Van Gogh was never really financially successful during his lifetime. It shouldn’t really be up to us to decide if it’s good or bad for all time. I agree that art should be preserved. But, I’m also a data hoarder lol

Maybe Van Gogh would be considered a mediocre artist with some rare masterpieces if all of his artwork would have been preserved. Who knows…

I don’t think you understand the scale of art that is created every minute of every day.

Yes, art should be preserved when possible and shouldn’t be intentionally destroyed. But not all art could even be preserved, it just isn’t possible.

In the case of games, this is doubly problematic due to patches and updates. People can still play Fortnite and Overwatch today, but they can no longer play those games as they were in 2018. Anyone that never played previous versions can only read changelogs to get an idea of what changed and when.

Hitler was an artist. There are plenty of bad artists that shouldn’t have work preserved.

the Holocaust could have been averted if Hitler was allowed to be an artist, even though he wasn’t very good at it by the standards of his contemporaries.

Art has value even if it is “bad”.

Not doomed for those selling them.

People will just buy the next thing.

I stopped buying games when Call of Duty decided to no longer allow you to host your own. That was mtast game purchase, I refuse to buy any more. Turns out I have more time for other stuff now.

It’s pathetic that EU citizens need a USAmerican to try and rally us to protect our property. Absolute joke.

I think it’s more an American needs your help cause there is not a chance in America to do it as the deck is too much stacked against Americans.

That’s great. Doesn’t change anything about how pathetic it is that the majority of European gamers don’t want to help ourselves and didn’t even try to start helping ourselves without a USAmerican.

wait are you telling me that people can’t play all games at the same time all day forever? that calls into question what business people always know to be true, which is that resources are always available and unlimited. surely they can’t be mistaken. you don’t become a CEO without being a genius.
